Telescopers! FAQ
- Do I need any experience with telescopes to participate?
- No; we will supply telescopes and show you how to use them to focus on skyviewing targets. The events are aimed at people of all ages and skill levels
- What if I have my own telescope?
- Feel free to bring it out! However, we may not have the resources available to assist you with operating your telescope.
- Will there be any access to restrooms?
- No, we do not have any restroom access at the viewing location. Please plan your arrival accordingly.
- Will chairs be provided?
- Sorry, we will not be able to provide chairs or other lawn furnishings. We suggest and encourage you to bring a lawn chair/blanket to lay upon in the ground as you enjoy watching the skies with us!
- Do you ever host activities at Spirit Mound/Clay County Park?
- Yes! We sometimes go out of town to observe our most exciting targets!
- Should I wait until it is dark to arrive?
- You can, but you'd miss out on some fun daytime activities! We have a telescope with solar filters that will safely allow you to view the Sun as it sets, hands-on equipment that you can use to explore how telescopes work, and many other things to learn and explore during the twilight hours!
- What happens if bad weather makes viewing impossible?
- At this time, if unexpected weather or other problems arise, we will either push the event to the next clear-sky day or we will cancel the viewing event
